Reported speech (Косвенная речь).

1. Изучить грам. материал Reported speech    в Грамматическом справочнике учебника (GR 17-20). Обратите внимание, как меняются времена в косвенных предложениях. Законспектировать и прислать фото.       

 2. Ex. 5 p.127

Давайте разбираться по предложениям:

(1) I can’t come to music practice. — Помогает усвоенная закономерность: Present Simple становится Past Simple. Про местоимения— помогает аналогия со сложноподчинёнными предложениями с придаточными изъяснительными в русском языке, выражающими косвенную речь: Том сказал, что он не может прийти … Tom told me that he couldn’t come to music practice.

 (2, 3) I’m not feeling very well. I’m going to the doctor’s. Present Continuous становится Past Continuous. He said that he was not feeling very well and he was going to the doctor.

(4, 5) Don’t worry. I’ll be there on Friday. — Формы повелительного наклонения передаются конструкцией told sb + инфинитив. Future Simple передается в косвенной речи формой Future-in-the-Past. He told me not to worry and said that he would be there (here) on Friday.

3. Ex. 6a p. 127

Для передачи общего вопроса в косвенной речи мы используем союзы if/whether (ли); для передачи специального вопроса в косвенной речи мы используем то же вопросительное местоимение, которое  становится относительным/союзным словом. Временные формы изменяются так же, как и в косвенных утверждениях. Порядок слов в косвенном вопросе прямой (как в повествовательном предложении).

4.Ex. 6b p.127

1) Анализируем образец:

What is the problem? — The doctor asked what the problem was. Специальный вопрос — т. е. what сохраняется. Present Simple становится Past Simple. Порядок слов меняем на прямой. Заметьте: мы получили повествовательное предложение (знака вопроса нет). Как и в русском языке: Доктор спросил, в чём проблема.

2) He asked (специальный вопрос — т. е. when сохраняется) when I (Past Simple может остаться Past Simple или стать Past Perfect) started/had started feeling ill. Порядок слов прямой: I (had) started. He asked when I started/had started feeling ill.

3) The doctor asked if/whether I felt sick. — Общий вопрос мы ввели в косвенную речь при помощи if/whether (сравни в русском языке − ли).

4) Так же  с общим вопросом: He asked if/whether I had a sore throat.

5) Опять общий вопрос (if/whether), но в вопросе Present Perfect меняем на Past Perfect: The doctor asked whether (if) I had taken any painkillers.

      We all face challenges constantly in every area of our lives. Most people have a hard time accepting and dealing with the challenges that arise. The truth is that we will have to deal with difficult problems throughout our life, whether it is in our personal life or career. Most of us get really afraid and run away from problems because we don’t want to accept reality the way it is. Running away from your problems is the worst thing you can do to deal with the challenges you meet. You had better learn how to deal with everyday challenges.

Conditionals are clauses introduced with if. The main types of conditionals are: Type 0, Type 1, Type 2, Type 3. Conditionals clauses consist of two parts: the if-clause (hypothesis) and the main clause (result). When the if-clause comes before the main clause, the two clauses are separated with a comma. If the weather is good tomorrow, we will go to the beach. When the main clause comes before the if-clause, then no comma is necessary. 

Type 0 Conditionals (general truth).

They are used to express something which is always true.  If / when it rains, the roads get slippery and dangerous. 

Type 1 Conditionals (real present)

They are used to express real or very probable situations in the present or future. If we work hard, we will finish the project on time. 

Type 2 Conditionals (unreal present). 
They are used to express imaginary situations which are contrary to facts in present and therefore, are unlikely to happen in the present or future. They are also used for giving advice. If I didn`t work such long hours, I wouldn`t be so tired.

Type 3 Conditionals (unreal past). 
They are used to express imaginary situations which are contrary to facts in the past. They are also used to express regrets or criticism. If I had been more careful, I wouldn`t have made such a big mistake.
